Drug intelligence / Profile preview
GelVac H5N1 vaccine is a clinical-stage, long-acting vaccine candidate developed by DelSiTech for the prevention of H5N1 avian influenza. It utilizes the proprietary GelVac™ technology, which is based on a biodegradable silica (silicon dioxide) matrix that encapsulates viral antigens. This platform allows for the controlled, sustained release of the H5N1 antigen—typically recombinant hemagglutinin—over several weeks following a single administration. The mechanism is designed to mimic the prolonged antigen exposure seen in natural infections, thereby enhancing the breadth and duration of the immune response and potentially eliminating the need for traditional adjuvants or multiple booster doses. It is primarily intended as a pandemic preparedness tool to provide long-lasting immunity through a simplified dosing regimen.
