GEM333 is a humanized bispecific antibody designed to engage T-cells for the targeted treatment of acute myeloid leukemia (AML). It binds both CD33, an antigen commonly expressed on AML cells, and CD3 on T-cells. By simultaneously binding these targets, GEM333 redirects cytotoxic T lymphocytes to recognize and kill CD33-positive leukemic cells through antibody-dependent cell cytotoxicity and direct T-cell activation. The drug was developed as an immunotherapy for relapsed or refractory AML patients who have failed standard therapies. Its development was led by AvenCell Europe (formerly GEMoaB Monoclonals) in collaboration with Celgene Corporation[2][3][9].
