Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Gemcitabine + carboplatin + bevacizumab is a combination chemotherapy regimen used primarily for the treatment of recurrent, platinum-sensitive advanced ovarian cancer. Gemcitabine is a nucleoside analog that inhibits DNA synthesis, leading to cell death. Carboplatin is a platinum-based chemotherapeutic agent that causes DNA crosslinking and apoptosis in rapidly dividing cells. Bevacizumab is a monoclonal antibody targeting vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), inhibiting angiogenesis and thereby restricting tumor blood supply and growth[6][8]. This combination aims to maximize cytotoxic effects on tumor cells while also disrupting the tumor's ability to form new blood vessels.
