Overview

A combination therapy consisting of two chemotherapy agents (gemcitabine and cisplatin) plus adoptive cell immunotherapy with Cytokine-Induced Killer (CIK) cells. CIK cells are a heterogeneous population of immune effector cells with both T-cell and NK-cell properties, generated by ex vivo expansion of peripheral blood mononuclear cells with cytokines. This combination leverages both direct cytotoxic effects of chemotherapy and the immune-mediated anti-tumor activity of CIK cells, which can recognize and kill tumor cells through MHC-restricted and MHC-unrestricted mechanisms.
