Overview
This therapeutic regimen is a total neoadjuvant therapy (TNT) approach being investigated for the treatment of resectable biliary adenocarcinoma. It consists of systemic chemotherapy with gemcitabine and cisplatin, followed by short-course chemoradiation using infusional fluorouracil (5-FU) and radiation therapy (30 Gy in 10 fractions). The regimen is designed to improve surgical outcomes and systemic control in patients with biliary tract cancers, such as cholangiocarcinoma or gallbladder cancer, by delivering all components of therapy prior to surgical resection. This specific protocol is being evaluated in a Phase 1 feasibility study led by Jordan Kharofa at the University of Cincinnati.
