A triplet combination chemotherapy regimen consisting of gemcitabine, paclitaxel, and trastuzumab. This regimen is primarily used for treating HER2-overexpressing metastatic breast cancer. Each component has a distinct mechanism of action: gemcitabine is a deoxycytidine analog antimetabolite that damages cancer cells during DNA synthesis; paclitaxel is a taxane that damages the structure supporting cancer cells; and trastuzumab is a monoclonal antibody that selectively binds to HER2 proteins, blocking signals that cause cancer cell multiplication.
