Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Gemcitabine + ramucirumab is a combination therapy consisting of the nucleoside analogue antimetabolite gemcitabine and the monoclonal antibody ramucirumab. Gemcitabine inhibits DNA synthesis, while ramucirumab targets vascular endothelial growth factor receptor 2 (VEGFR-2), blocking angiogenesis. This combination has been investigated in clinical trials for second-line treatment of malignant pleural mesothelioma after progression on first-line platinum/pemetrexed chemotherapy, showing improved overall survival and a favorable safety profile[1][2][5].
