Drug intelligence / Profile preview
GEMMi is a matrix metalloproteinase (MMP) inhibitor being developed by Artizan Biosciences in collaboration with the University Medical Center of Utrecht. It is a small molecule designed to target chronic inflammation and immune dysregulation by disrupting intestinal triggers of the inflammation process. The drug is currently in the discovery stage and is primarily being investigated for the treatment of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). GEMMi represents a new molecular class that leverages the human gut as a drug discovery tool to identify and neutralize specific drivers of intestinal inflammation.
