Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Genakumab is a monoclonal antibody that targets interleukin-1 beta (IL-1β). It is developed as an anti-inflammatory biologic agent for the treatment of inflammatory diseases. By specifically binding to IL-1β and inhibiting its interaction with its receptor, genakumab blocks downstream inflammatory signaling pathways. This mechanism rapidly and specifically inhibits inflammation associated with conditions such as acute gouty arthritis and systemic juvenile idiopathic arthritis. The drug is produced using genetic engineering techniques and has been developed in both powder and liquid formulations for subcutaneous administration[3][4][5].
