The GeneVax HIV vaccine is a prophylactic prime-boost vaccine candidate developed by Auro Vaccines for the prevention of HIV infection. The regimen utilizes a multiantigen DNA vaccine prime (HIV-MAG) encoding six HIV-1 proteins (Env, Gag, Pol, Nef, Tat, and Vif) co-administered with a DNA plasmid encoding human interleukin-12 (IL-12) as a genetic adjuvant. This prime is delivered via intramuscular electroporation using Ichor Medical Systems' TriGrid delivery system. The prime is followed by a boost with a recombinant adenovirus type 35 vector (Ad35-GRIN/ENV). Developed in partnership with the International AIDS Vaccine Initiative (IAVI), the vaccine is designed to elicit broad cell-mediated immunity, specifically CD4+ and CD8+ T cell responses. It has been evaluated in a Phase 1 clinical trial (B004) which demonstrated safety and tolerability.
