GeneXSTEM (GXS-001) is an autologous, gene-modified mesenchymal stem cell (MSC) therapy developed by GeneXstem Inc. for the treatment of degenerative joint diseases, specifically knee osteoarthritis. The therapy utilizes the patient's own adipose-derived stem cells, which are harvested and then genetically modified using a proprietary gene-delivery system to enhance their therapeutic potential. These modified cells are designed to overexpress specific growth factors or anti-inflammatory proteins that promote the regeneration of damaged cartilage and modulate the intra-articular inflammatory environment.
