Genistein Combined Polysaccharide (GCP) is a proprietary botanical extract produced by the fermentation of soy isoflavones with shiitake mushroom (*Lentinula edodes*) mycelia. This unique fermentation process utilizes mushroom-derived enzymes to convert genistin, the glycoside form of genistein found in soy, into its more bioavailable aglycone form, genistein. The resulting mixture also contains mushroom-derived polysaccharides, primarily alpha-glucans. GCP has been primarily investigated for its potential chemopreventive and therapeutic effects in oncology, particularly for prostate cancer. It is hypothesized to inhibit tumor growth and reduce prostate-specific antigen (PSA) levels through multiple mechanisms, including the inhibition of protein-tyrosine kinases, induction of apoptosis, and modulation of the immune system.
