Geniwa gel

Geniwa gel is a topical botanical drug candidate developed by KTH Biopharma for the treatment of recurrent genital warts (condyloma acuminata). The formulation is derived from the extract of the *Genipa americana* fruit, which contains the active compound genipin. Genipin is a natural iridoid that acts as a cross-linking agent and exhibits anti-inflammatory, anti-viral, and pro-apoptotic properties. In clinical settings, Geniwa gel is primarily investigated as an adjuvant therapy following CO2 laser ablation to reduce the high recurrence rates associated with Human Papillomavirus (HPV) infections. It is hypothesized to promote tissue healing and inhibit the persistence of viral activity in the treated epithelial layers.
