Overview

GenSci136 is a dual inhibitor of A Proliferation-Inducing Ligand (APRIL) and B-cell Activating Factor (BAFF), developed by Changchun GeneScience Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. for the treatment of autoimmune diseases such as IgA nephropathy, myasthenia gravis, and lupus nephritis. The drug is engineered as a BCMA (B-cell maturation antigen) trimer fusion protein, which captures BAFF and APRIL with high affinity, preventing them from binding to their respective receptors on B-cells. This blockade inhibits the signaling pathways necessary for B-cell maturation and autoantibody production. Notably, GenSci136 is designed with an extended half-life to support a dosing schedule of once every four weeks, potentially offering superior patient compliance compared to the weekly dosing required for the marketed competitor telitacicept. It is currently being evaluated in Phase 1 clinical trials in China.
