Gentafix 1

Gentafix 1 is a high viscosity, radiopaque, self-hardening bone cement containing gentamicin, an aminoglycoside antibiotic. It is dedicated to arthroplasty surgery—such as shoulder, hip, and knee procedures—and is used to provide immediate and stable anchorage of implants while delivering local antibiotic therapy to help cure or prevent infections. Gentamicin acts by binding to prokaryotic ribosomes, inhibiting protein synthesis in susceptible bacteria, and exhibiting a broad antibacterial spectrum against most bacteria encountered in orthopedic surgeries. The cement formulation enables optimized long-term release of gentamicin, reducing infection risk.
