gentamicin + piperacillin

Gentamicin + piperacillin is a combination of two antibiotics used together for the treatment of serious bacterial infections, particularly those caused by Gram-negative and some Gram-positive organisms. Gentamicin is an aminoglycoside antibiotic that inhibits bacterial protein synthesis by binding to the 30S ribosomal subunit, leading to cell death. Piperacillin is a broad-spectrum ureidopenicillin (beta-lactam) antibiotic that inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis by binding to penicillin-binding proteins, resulting in bactericidal activity. The combination is often used synergistically in severe infections such as sepsis, endocarditis, and hospital-acquired pneumonia due to their complementary mechanisms and expanded antimicrobial coverage[3][8]. This regimen may be selected when resistance or mixed infections are suspected.
