Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Gentiana reussia tongbi soup (likely a translation of the Qinjiao Tongbi Decoction) is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) formula developed by the Jiangsu Provincial Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine specifically for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis (RA). The formula is primarily composed of *Gentiana macrophylla* (Qinjiao), along with other botanical ingredients such as *Clematis chinensis* (Weilingxian) and *Sinomenium acutum* (Qingfengteng). It is designed to "dispel wind-dampness," "clear heat," and "unblock the collaterals" according to TCM principles. Pharmacologically, the decoction exerts anti-inflammatory and immunomodulatory effects by suppressing the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines, including tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α), interleukin-1 beta (IL-1β), and interleukin-6 (IL-6). It also helps regulate the Th17/Treg cell balance and inhibits the NF-κB signaling pathway, thereby reducing joint inflammation, swelling, and pain. The drug is utilized as a registered hospital preparation (院内制剂) at the Jiangsu Provincial Hospital of TCM.
