Gentiopicrin (also known as gentiopicroside) is a secoiridoid glycoside primarily derived from plants of the *Gentiana* genus, such as *Gentiana lutea*. It is recognized for its diverse pharmacological activities, including anti-inflammatory, analgesic, hepatoprotective, and anti-proliferative effects. In the context of psoriasis research, gentiopicrin has been shown to inhibit the excessive proliferation and migration of keratinocytes while inducing their apoptosis. It further modulates the immune response by downregulating the expression of key pro-inflammatory mediators, including IL-17A and CXCL2. To overcome its poor skin permeability, researchers have investigated advanced delivery systems like chitosan-coated liposomal nanoparticles (CS@Gen) for topical application, which have demonstrated efficacy in reducing epidermal thickness and scaling in animal models.
