Overview

GEO-CM02 is a pan-coronavirus vaccine candidate developed by GeoVax Labs using its proprietary Modified Vaccinia Ankara (MVA) vector platform. The vaccine is designed to express multiple antigens that self-assemble into virus-like particles (VLPs) in the vaccinated individual, aiming to induce broad and durable immune responses against SARS-CoV-2 and other coronaviruses. In January 2021, the program received a Phase 1 Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) grant from the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) to support its preclinical development. Unlike first-generation vaccines that focus solely on the spike protein, GEO-CM02 is engineered to provide a more comprehensive immune profile to address emerging variants and potentially other coronavirus species.
