GEO-CM04S1 is a next-generation COVID-19 vaccine developed using a synthetic, modified vaccinia virus Ankara (sMVA) viral vector platform. It encodes both the spike (S) and nucleocapsid (N) antigens of SARS-CoV-2, aiming to induce robust antibody and T cell responses against parts of the virus less likely to mutate over time. This dual-antigen approach is designed to provide broader and more durable immunity compared to current mRNA vaccines that target only the S antigen. The vaccine is particularly intended for high-risk populations such as immunocompromised patients, including those with hematologic cancers or chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL), who often have poor responses to existing vaccines.
