GEO-LM01 is a vaccine candidate developed by GeoVax Labs for the prevention of Lassa Fever, a viral hemorrhagic fever caused by the Lassa virus (LASV). The vaccine utilizes GeoVax's proprietary Modified Vaccinia Ankara (MVA) Virus-Like Particle (VLP) platform, which is engineered to express Lassa virus antigens that spontaneously assemble into non-infectious VLPs within the host. This approach is designed to elicit both robust antibody (humoral) and T-cell (cellular) immune responses. Preclinical studies in mouse models have demonstrated 100% protection against lethal Lassa virus challenge. The program has received significant support from the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) to fund advanced preclinical development, including nonhuman primate testing and cGMP manufacturing process development, in preparation for Phase 1 human clinical trials. Development is conducted in collaboration with the U.S. Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases (USAMRIID) and The Scripps Research Institute.
