Overview

GEO-MM02 is a multi-antigenic malaria vaccine candidate developed by GeoVax Labs using its proprietary GV-MVA-VLP (Modified Vaccinia Ankara - Virus-Like Particle) platform. Developed in collaboration with the Burnet Institute, the vaccine is designed to express antigens from multiple stages of the malaria parasite's life cycle, specifically targeting Plasmodium falciparum and Plasmodium vivax. The platform utilizes a recombinant MVA vector to produce virus-like particles in the recipient, aiming to elicit a broad and durable immune response involving both functional antibodies and CD4+ and CD8+ T cell responses. While preclinical studies in animal models demonstrated immunogenicity and efficacy, the program has been reported as inactive or discontinued due to a lack of further funding.
