geranium robertianum extract

Geranium robertianum extract is an aqueous preparation derived from the leaves of the *Geranium robertianum* L. plant, a member of the Geraniaceae family commonly known as Herb-Robert or Red Robin. Traditionally used in folk medicine for its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties to treat conditions such as ulcers, diarrhea, and wounds, the extract is currently being investigated for its neuroprotective potential in neurodegenerative disorders. Research conducted by Erzurum Technical University suggests that the extract may offer therapeutic benefits for Parkinson's disease by ameliorating 1-methyl-4-phenylpyridinium (MPP+)-induced neurotoxicity. Its mechanism of action involves the regulation of oxidative stress machinery (increasing total antioxidant status and decreasing total oxidative status), the inhibition of apoptosis, and the modulation of acetylcholinesterase (AChE) activity. The extract contains various bioactive phytochemicals, including linalool, geraniol, and alpha-caryophyllene.
