Germinal peptide is a synthetic peptide under development as a topical ophthalmic agent for the treatment of corneal injuries. Preclinical studies have shown that it promotes corneal wound healing by stimulating the migration and regeneration of corneal epithelial and stromal cells, reducing opacity and edema, and supporting tissue repair. In animal models, germinal peptide demonstrated efficacy comparable to or better than recombinant human epidermal growth factor (rh-EGF) in promoting cell migration and reducing neovascularization after alkali-induced injury. Clinical trials have been conducted to evaluate its safety in healthy volunteers. The primary indication is for corneal wound healing following chemical or traumatic injury[1][2][3][4].
