Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Getong Tongluo (GTC) is a traditional Chinese medicine formulation primarily used in capsule form. Its main active ingredient is the total flavone of Radix Puerariae (the root of Pueraria lobata, also known as kudzu). GTC has been studied for its efficacy in improving neurological function and quality of life in patients recovering from ischemic stroke and for controlling primary hypertension. Clinical trials have shown that it can improve functional independence (as measured by the Barthel Index), enhance neurological recovery, and provide better blood pressure control compared to placebo or Ginkgo biloba extract. The mechanism of action is believed to involve blood regulation and neuroprotection, likely through modulation of cytokine levels and vascular effects[1][2][3][8].
