gevokizumab

Gevokizumab is a humanized monoclonal antibody that acts as an allosteric modulator and neutralizer of interleukin-1 beta (IL-1β), a pro-inflammatory cytokine implicated in various inflammatory and autoimmune diseases. By binding to IL-1β with high affinity, gevokizumab prevents its interaction with the IL-1 receptor and downmodulates cellular signaling events that drive inflammation. It has been investigated for multiple indications including non-infectious uveitis, Behçet's disease uveitis, pyoderma gangrenosum, osteoarthritis (notably erosive hand osteoarthritis), acne vulgaris, scleritis, type 2 diabetes with diabetic kidney disease, rheumatoid arthritis, cardiovascular diseases (such as acute coronary syndromes), and several cancers. Gevokizumab was originally developed by XOMA Corporation and later licensed globally to Novartis for further development and commercialization[4][5][3].
