Overview

GF2 is a water-soluble glycofullerene, a type of carbon nanomaterial, synthesized via a two-step modified Bingel-Hirsch methodology. It functions as a non-receptor Src kinase inhibitor, demonstrating inhibitory activity against Fyn A and BTK proteins in the low micromolar range. Studies have shown that GF2 exhibits no cytotoxicity in PANC-1 and AsPC-1 pancreatic cancer cell lines and influences cellular redox imbalance and protein levels, suggesting its potential as a nanotherapeutic for pancreatic cancer.
