Overview

GHB11L1 is a replication-deficient live attenuated influenza vaccine (LAIV) developed by AVIR Green Hills Biotechnology for the prevention of influenza A (H1N1) infection. It is based on the deltaFLU platform, which utilizes a virus with a deleted NS1 (non-structural protein 1) gene. NS1 normally functions as the virus's primary defense against the host's interferon-mediated immune response; its deletion renders the vaccine virus replication-deficient while enhancing its ability to stimulate a broad immune response. The vaccine is administered as a single-dose liquid nasal spray and is designed to induce immunity against viral surface proteins.
