Overview

GHK-Cu is a naturally occurring copper-binding tripeptide (glycyl-L-histidyl-L-lysine) found in human plasma, known for its potent regenerative, anti-inflammatory, and tissue-remodeling properties. Hudson Biotech is developing a topical gel formulation of GHK-Cu specifically for the treatment of acute cutaneous wounds, such as those resulting from surgical procedures or trauma. The mechanism of action involves the stimulation of extracellular matrix components, including collagen, elastin, and glycosaminoglycans, as well as the promotion of angiogenesis and the modulation of inflammatory cytokines. By acting as a chemoattractant for repair cells and increasing the expression of key growth factors like VEGF and FGF, GHK-Cu accelerates the re-epithelialization process. The drug is currently being evaluated in the Phase 2 "CuHeal" clinical trial to assess its efficacy in accelerating the healing of standardized punch-biopsy wounds in healthy adults.
