GHSROS antisense oligonucleotide is a therapeutic agent designed to target and knock down the expression of the human long noncoding RNA (lncRNA) *GHSROS* (GHSR opposite strand). *GHSROS* is an oncogenic lncRNA located on the antisense DNA strand of the ghrelin receptor gene (*GHSR*) and is upregulated in a subset of high-grade prostate cancers. Its overexpression is associated with increased cell proliferation, migration, and resistance to the cytotoxic drug docetaxel. By utilizing antisense technology, these oligonucleotides achieve significant knockdown of *GHSROS* transcripts, which in turn regulates the expression of various genes, including the androgen receptor and other transcription factors involved in metastasis and poor prognosis. Development has been led by researchers at the Queensland University of Technology and collaborating institutions, with preclinical studies demonstrating efficacy in prostate cancer xenograft models.
