Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**Gi-Ag@NMOF-CS-FA** is an experimental folic-acid-targeted chitosan-coated metal-organic-framework nanocomposite containing in-situ green-synthesized silver nanoparticles. It was reported as a bifunctional nanocarrier intended for detection and treatment of colon cancer cells. In an in-vitro study using HCT116 colon cancer cells and HGF normal cells, the folic-acid-functionalized formulation showed preferential cancer-cell targeting and reduced HCT116 viability, while displaying limited short-term toxicity toward HGF cells. The material remains an early preclinical nanomedicine concept and is not an approved therapeutic product.
