GI148512 is a topical gel formulation containing 3% benzoyl peroxide, developed by GSK for the treatment of acne vulgaris, specifically studied in the Japanese population. As a broad-spectrum antibacterial agent, benzoyl peroxide works by releasing free-radical oxygen species that oxidize bacterial proteins, effectively reducing the population of *Cutibacterium acnes* within the hair follicles. Additionally, it exhibits keratolytic and comedolytic properties, promoting the shedding of dead skin cells and reducing the formation of comedones. In the Phase 3 clinical trial STF115288, GI148512 demonstrated significant efficacy and a favorable safety profile when applied once daily over a 12-week period.
