Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Giclanfentrine + glycopyrronium bromide (TQC3721 + glycopyrronium bromide) is an investigational inhaled combination therapy being developed for the treatment of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). The combination consists of giclanfentrine (TQC3721), a novel small-molecule dual phosphodiesterase 3 and 4 (PDE3/4) inhibitor developed by Chia Tai Tianqing (CTTQ), and glycopyrronium bromide (glycopyrrolate), a long-acting muscarinic antagonist (LAMA). Giclanfentrine provides both bronchodilation (via PDE3 inhibition) and anti-inflammatory effects (via PDE4 inhibition), while glycopyrronium bromide acts as an anticholinergic bronchodilator by blocking muscarinic M3 receptors. In clinical studies, the combination of TQC3721 dry powder inhaler (DPI) and glycopyrronium bromide demonstrated bronchodilator effects comparable to indacaterol/glycopyrronium bromide with good tolerability. AstraZeneca holds the exclusive rights to develop and commercialize TQC3721 outside of China, while CTTQ retains rights within China.
