GIFT-7TVax is an engineered tumor vaccine incorporating the GIFT-7 fusokine, which is a fusion protein of Interleukin-7 (IL-7) and Granulocyte-Macrophage Colony-Stimulating Factor (GM-CSF). Developed by researchers at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, this vaccine is designed to overcome age-related immune dysfunction, specifically targeting glioblastoma. The GIFT-7 component acts to reverse lymphoid organ atrophy and promote thymic regeneration. In preclinical models, peripheral vaccination with GIFT-7TVax has been shown to hyperactivate dendritic cells, increase pro-inflammatory cytokines (like IL-1β), and enhance the formation of long-term Th-17 effector memory T-cells, leading to improved survival in aged subjects with glioblastoma.
