Drug intelligence / Profile preview
GIGA-2050 is a recombinant hyperimmune polyclonal antibody drug developed to provide passive immunity to patients with COVID-19 or those at high risk of infection. Unlike conventional monoclonal antibody therapies that target one or a few viral epitopes, GIGA-2050 comprises more than 12,000 distinct antibodies derived from the B cell repertoires of 16 convalescent donors with strong immune responses to SARS-CoV-2. This diversity allows it to bind and neutralize a broad range of natural SARS-CoV-2 variants, including major variants such as delta. The drug is produced using mammalian cell lines engineered for large-scale manufacturing, resulting in high batch-to-batch consistency and potency that surpasses plasma-derived hyperimmune products. Its mechanism involves direct neutralization of the SARS-CoV-2 virus by targeting multiple viral epitopes simultaneously[2][4][5][6][7][8].
