GIGA-2339 is a first-in-class recombinant human polyclonal antibody therapy developed for the treatment of chronic hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection. Unlike traditional monoclonal or plasma-derived polyclonal antibodies, GIGA-2339 comprises over 1,000 fully human anti-HBV antibodies engineered to mimic the natural immune response of individuals vaccinated against HBV. This diverse antibody mixture targets multiple epitopes on the hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg), a key viral protein involved in replication and immune evasion. By binding to HBsAg, GIGA-2339 aims to neutralize and clear viral particles, reduce antigen levels, and reactivate the host immune system—potentially leading to a functional cure for chronic HBV. Preclinical studies have shown that it is more than 2,000 times as potent as existing plasma-derived therapies and can address a broad spectrum of HBV variants, including those with escape mutations[1][2][3][4][5][6][8].
