Ginger powder capsules, derived from the rhizome of *Zingiber officinale*, are being investigated as a natural analgesic and anti-inflammatory agent for the management of endodontic pain. The therapeutic efficacy of ginger is primarily attributed to its bioactive constituents, including gingerols, shogaols, and paradols. These compounds function as dual inhibitors of the arachidonic acid metabolism pathways, specifically targeting the enzymes prostaglandin-endoperoxide synthase 1 (COX-1), prostaglandin-endoperoxide synthase 2 (COX-2), and arachidonate 5-lipoxygenase (5-LOX). By inhibiting these enzymes, ginger reduces the biosynthesis of pro-inflammatory prostaglandins and leukotrienes, which are key mediators of pain and inflammation in the dental pulp. In a Phase 3 clinical trial sponsored by Cairo University, ginger powder capsules (500 mg) are administered orally to patients with symptomatic irreversible pulpitis to evaluate their effectiveness in reducing intraoperative and postoperative pain during single-visit endodontic treatment.
