Drug intelligence / Profile preview
A combination of standardized extracts from Ginkgo biloba (leaf) and Cistanche tubulosa (root), used as a dietary supplement. This botanical blend has been studied for its potential to improve symptoms of chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) and enhance cognitive function in healthy adults. Mechanistically, the combination is believed to exert antioxidant effects, reduce blood ammonia and lactic acid levels, promote neuronal growth, protect against cellular damage, and improve memory and executive function. The product is typically formulated with a higher proportion of Cistanche extract relative to Ginkgo extract (commonly 2.6–20:1 by weight). Clinical studies have shown improvements in fatigue scores, quality of life measures, sexual health indices in CFS patients[1][2], as well as enhancements in memory and cognitive flexibility in healthy adults[3]. The mechanism involves neuroprotection via antioxidative pathways and possible modulation of neurotransmitter systems.
