Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Ginkgo biloba extract + dipyridamole is a combination pharmaceutical product, typically administered as an intravenous injection, widely used in China for cardiovascular and cerebrovascular disorders. The formulation combines the antiplatelet and vasodilatory properties of dipyridamole with the neuroprotective and microcirculatory benefits of Ginkgo biloba extract. Dipyridamole functions by inhibiting phosphodiesterase enzymes and the cellular uptake of adenosine, leading to increased cAMP/cGMP levels and inhibition of platelet aggregation. Ginkgo biloba extract, containing flavonoids and terpene lactones (such as ginkgolides), acts as a free radical scavenger and a platelet-activating factor (PAF) receptor antagonist. The combination is primarily indicated for ischemic stroke, coronary heart disease, and thromboembolic prophylaxis.
