Overview

A combination therapy consisting of ginkgo biloba extract (EGb) and trimipramine. This combination has been studied as an adjunctive treatment for depression with sleep disturbances. Ginkgo biloba extract appears to enhance the effects of trimipramine by improving sleep continuity and enhancing Non-REM sleep, particularly slow wave sleep in the first sleep cycle. The combination may work by weakening tonic CRH-activity, which is substantially related to depressive mood, cognition, and sleep disturbances.
