Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Ginkgo biloba extract 50 (GBE50) is a standardized herbal product derived from the leaves of the Ginkgo biloba tree. It is formulated to contain approximately 44% flavones and 6% lactones, making it equivalent in standardization to the German product EGb761. Clinically approved by the China Food and Drug Administration (approval number Z20000049), GBE50 has demonstrated antioxidant, antiplatelet, and neuroprotective properties. Its mechanisms include interference with platelet aggregation via cAMP pathway modulation, arachidonic acid metabolism inhibition, calcium signaling pathway regulation, and reduction of thromboxane B2 (TXB2) and PAF receptor levels. Clinical studies have shown its effectiveness in treating dizziness caused by cerebral arteriosclerosis as well as potential benefits for blood lipid regulation and nerve repair[1][3][4][6][8].
