Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Ginkgo ketone ester is a proprietary Chinese medicine derived from Ginkgo biloba extract. It is primarily formulated as an oral drop or dropping pill and represents a fifth-generation Ginkgo biloba preparation. The main active ingredients are Ginkgo flavonoids and ginkgolides, with low levels of potentially toxic ginkgolic acids due to advanced purification processes[1][3][4]. Mechanistically, it acts by improving vascular endothelial function, dilating blood vessels, increasing cerebral blood flow, antagonizing platelet-activating factor (PAF), reducing blood viscosity, and exerting antioxidant effects. These actions contribute to its use in cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases such as hypertension complicated by carotid atherosclerotic plaque and coronary heart disease[1][2][4]. The drug is absorbed through the oral mucosa for rapid onset of action.
