Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Ginkgo lactone (marketed as Ginkgo Lactone Injection under the brand name Jingelai) is a standardized botanical extract of terpene lactones from *Ginkgo biloba* leaves, developed by Chengdu Baiyu Pharmaceutical. It primarily consists of ginkgolides (including ginkgolide A, B, and C) and bilobalide. Ginkgo lactone acts as a potent and selective antagonist of the platelet-activating factor (PAF) receptor, thereby inhibiting PAF-induced platelet aggregation, reducing inflammation, and providing neuroprotective effects. It is approved in China for the treatment of mild-to-moderate acute ischemic stroke and during the recovery phase of stroke (phlegm and blood stasis syndrome).
