Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Ginkgo Leaf Tablets are a standardized traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) pharmaceutical preparation derived from the leaves of *Ginkgo biloba*. The primary active constituents are ginkgo flavonoid glycosides and terpene lactones, including ginkgolides (A, B, C) and bilobalide. In clinical research led by Hejiang Ye, these tablets are utilized to treat or serve as a comparator for diabetic neurovascular coupling impairment (NCI), a condition characterized by the disruption of the regulatory relationship between neuronal activity and local blood flow. The drug's therapeutic effects are attributed to its ability to improve microcirculation, reduce blood viscosity, and antagonize platelet-activating factor (PAF) receptors. Furthermore, its potent antioxidant properties help protect the neurovascular unit from oxidative stress-induced damage, which is a critical pathological driver of diabetic complications in the eye and brain.
