Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Ginkgo total lactone is a purified pharmaceutical extract derived from the leaves of *Ginkgo biloba*, primarily composed of terpene lactones including ginkgolides A, B, and C, and bilobalide. Developed by Hefei Innovation Pharmaceutical Technology Co., Ltd., it is specifically indicated for the treatment of ischemic stroke (cerebral infarction) and related cerebrovascular disorders. The drug acts as a potent and selective antagonist of the platelet-activating factor (PAF) receptor. By inhibiting PAF-mediated pathways, it suppresses platelet aggregation, reduces inflammatory responses, and mitigates cerebral edema, thereby providing neuroprotective effects during the acute and recovery phases of stroke. In China, it is typically administered as an intravenous injection.
