Overview
Ginkgolide Dripping Pills is a botanical drug product containing terpene lactones (ginkgolides) extracted from *Ginkgo biloba* leaves. Developed by Hefei Chuangxin Pharmaceutical Technology and Wuhu Zhang Heng Chun Pharmaceutical, the formulation is primarily composed of ginkgolides A, B, and C. The drug functions as a potent antagonist of the platelet-activating factor (PAF) receptor, which plays a critical role in the pathogenesis of ischemic stroke by mediating platelet aggregation, leukocyte activation, and inflammatory responses. By blocking the PAF receptor, Ginkgolide Dripping Pills aim to reduce neuronal damage and improve clinical outcomes in patients with acute ischemic stroke. The product is currently in Phase III clinical development in China, specifically targeting patients with the "blood stasis" pattern according to Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) principles.
