Overview
Ginkgolide total terpene lactone is a purified botanical extract derived from the leaves of *Ginkgo biloba*, primarily composed of ginkgolides (A, B, C, and J) and bilobalide. Developed by Hefei Innovation Pharmaceutical Technology, this specific formulation is being evaluated as an oral dropping pill for the treatment of ischemic stroke. The drug's primary mechanism of action is the potent and selective antagonism of the platelet-activating factor (PAF) receptor. By blocking the binding of PAF to its receptor, the drug inhibits PAF-induced platelet aggregation, reduces inflammatory responses, and provides neuroprotective effects, which are critical in mitigating the damage caused by cerebral ischemia-reperfusion injury.
