Overview

Ginsenoside H is a preparation derived from Panax ginseng, formulated as "Ginsenoside H dripping pills." It is under clinical investigation primarily as an adjuvant therapy for advanced non-small cell lung cancer. The main active anticancer ingredient in this formulation is ginsenoside Rh2, a dammarane-type saponin (ginsenoside) known for its potential antitumor effects. Ginseng-derived ginsenosides are pharmacologically active compounds with diverse biological activities including immunomodulation, anti-cancer properties, neuroprotection, and metabolic regulation. Mechanistically, certain ginsenosides (including Rh2) modulate ion channels (such as voltage-dependent Ca²⁺/K⁺/Na⁺ channels), inhibit ligand-gated ion channels (e.g., NMDA receptors), and influence apoptosis-related pathways in cancer cells and neurons. The oral route of administration has been studied in clinical trials for the GH formulation[2][7].
