Overview

Ginsentide TP1 is a 31-residue, cysteine- and glycine-rich microprotein derived from *Panax ginseng*. It belongs to a novel family of heat-stable, proteolysis-resistant, and cell-penetrating peptides characterized by an eight-cysteine motif and a unique disulfide connectivity that forms a compact, pseudocyclic structure. Ginsentide TP1 exhibits potent cardioprotective and vasoprotective properties by mitigating oxidative stress, endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress, and mitochondrial dysfunction. In preclinical models, it has demonstrated the ability to protect against doxorubicin-induced cardiotoxicity and hypoxia-induced vascular endothelial dysfunction without compromising the efficacy of chemotherapeutic agents. Its mechanism involves the restoration of nitric oxide (NO) signaling and the reduction of pro-inflammatory and apoptotic pathways.
