GIP-085 is a long-acting agonist of the glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide receptor (GIP receptor, GIPR). It was developed as a research compound to investigate the metabolic and antiemetic effects of GIPR activation. In preclinical studies, GIP-085 demonstrated improved glucose clearance and increased circulating insulin levels in animal models, confirming its glucoregulatory action. Notably, it also exhibited antiemetic properties by completely preventing emesis induced by GLP-1 receptor agonists in shrews and reducing chemotherapy-induced nausea in rats. Additionally, GIP-085 reduced food intake and body weight gain in diet-induced obese mice through mechanisms involving increased leptin signaling and activation of satiety neurons in the hypothalamic arcuate nucleus. These findings suggest potential applications for obesity management and as an adjunct to GLP-1-based therapies to mitigate gastrointestinal side effects[1][2][3][4][5][7].
